Most people don't understand what is so special about being Greek." For those who are not Greek, "looking in" they don't understand, and for those who are Greek, "looking out" they just can't explain it.

The closest thing to an explanation is that... being Greek is an experience in itself. It's an experience that can't be explained or described completely. A good comparison would be a family. A family of brothers bonded together through common goals, ideals, and shared experiences

On that note, we would like to tell you about an aspect of college life that could supply you with the best college experience possible: Fraternity Recruitment

Fraternity membership provides the opportunity for academic assistance, leadership and organizational development, both planned and informal social activities, intramural competition, social service events, and small group living. Most importantly, all of these experiences result in lifelong friendships which make your college day some of the most exciting and memorable of your life.

The Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau encourages you to participate in fraternity recruitment. We would like to provide you with a list of "tips" to help you narrow down your choices:

Enjoy Rush

Although this sounds like a stressful time, it isn’t. Make sure you have fun while attending all of the houses during recruitment. You will meet a lot of great guys from many different fraternities who want to do the same thing as you do - meet new people.

Set Your Own Goals

The best way to find a fraternity to suit your needs is to find out what you what from the fraternity. Ask yourself these questions:

• Why are you rushing?

• Do you want a chance to be a leader?

• Do you want to establish a network of connections to be used once you graduate?

• Maybe you just want to meet new friends, or perhaps you want to join a fraternity just to enhance your college years?
  
  Explore Your Options
  Visit as many houses as you can, if not all of them!. By looking at all the different chapters, you can get a better idea of what you want in terms of the type of people you want to be around and the type of activities that are offered.
  
  Narrow Down Your Options
  After carefully comparing your favorite choices, eliminate the ones you don’t want, and go back and carefully inspect the ones you do want.
  
  Spend Time Getting To Know the Brothers
  Once you have decided which chapter you want, spend as much time with them as you can. Try to meet a majority all of the Brothers in the house, and go to as many of their events that you can. This gives the Brothers of the chapter ample time to get you know you, and shows them that you are serious about wanting to be part of their Brotherhood.

• The People. The atmosphere at ZBT is comfortable and relaxed. Everyone here says that they felt right at home from the minute they stepped through the door. Our brothers are never unapproachable and several have joined for this very reason.

• Academic Excellence. With our variety of different majors and our academic program, brothers are able to work together to get good grades.

• Diversity. We pride ourselves on maintaining a diversity of brothers with different interests and aspirations.

• Chances for Responsibility. There are many offices and chairmanships that prepare you for the responsibility you will face in the real world. New brothers, especially freshmen are encouraged to run for positions.

• It's just the best time you'll ever have. There is always something to do at ZBT and you just have to experience it to believe it. There is always someone around to talk to and there are few better opportunities in life to really broaden your horizons and make connections that will last a lifetime
